Capital Alliance Funeral Benefit and Scales

Definition
The Funeral Benefit pays out a lump sum in the event of the death of the member, spouse or children, whilst the member is employed. The purpose of this benefit is to provide cover to assist with the funeral costs.

Funeral Benefit scale:
Main Member: R1000
Qualifying Spouse: R1000
Qualifying Child older than 13 years: R1000
Qualifying Child 6 – 13 years: R500
Qualifying Child 0 – 5 years: R250
Stillborn: R250

The funeral cover benefit is available from R3000 to R40 000, in increments of R1000.

The maximum age for a qualifying child is under the age 22, unless they are studying full-time at a recognised school or tertiary institution, then cover will continue until age 26. Mentally or physically disabled children of the main member who are totally and completely dependent on the main member will be covered as long as the main member is eligible for benefits.

The maximum number of qualifying spouses is 1 and a maximum of 4 children.

Capital Alliance offers a repatriation benefit free of charge which provides transportation of the deceased to the funeral home closest to the place of burial in South Africa, transport is available from anywhere in South Africa and a SADC region.
