Medical proof for co-habiting spouses (Sanlam)

All our insurers offer spouse’s cover as an option however Sanlam’s underwriting process for this benefit is slightly different to the other insurers and is worth noting.

With Sanlam the free cover limit for the spouse’s benefits will apply to the qualifying spouse only if they are married.

The free cover limit will not apply if they are living together as if married.  In these instances the spouse will have no cover until the required medical proof is provided and the spouse is underwritten.

For Sanlam schemes with spouse’s cover we therefore require this additional detail, confirming the status of the spouse i.e. married or co-habiting, to be added to the monthly member data sent to us.

Should you require further detail on this please give us a call on 031 561 1044.
