A few weeks back we pointed out that life cover, and premiums for life cover, do not always continue after a member receives a disability payout. A recent case has highlighted the importance of making your client aware of the implications of not having cover to continue in the event of disability.

In many instances the reason for a disability claim increases the likelihood of a member needing life cover but once they are a disability claimant there is no way for them to add the life cover back on.

We will be asking the question at review of every group that does not currently have this rider benefit but in the meantime, please make sure that the groups who do not have this rider benefit are aware of it and are comfortable with their benefit structure as is, or please ask us to quote on adding this to your group.
