Following on from last week’s important reminder, here is some further information about the importance of category definitions.

We do accommodate different structures as long as the categories are clearly defined. Compulsory group risk cover means that if, for example, the membership category is defined as Monthly Paid Staff, all monthly paid staff should be covered.

If a new employee joins a company it should be clear which risk benefits they will qualify for, based on the employer’s category definitions that have been selected on the scheme.

Cover and categories cannot be implemented on an individual member choice basis.
